Mounjaro® (Tirzepatide) KwikPen®

This guide will walk you through the steps for preparing and using your Mounjaro® KwikPen® safely and correctly. Follow each step carefully to ensure you receive the correct dose of your medication.

Before You Begin

Your first order will contain:

• A Mounjaro® KwikPen®

• A pack of five needles and swabs

• A sharps bin to dispose of your used needles

Step 1: Prepare Your Pen

1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.

2. Prepare a clean surface for your pen and supplies.

3. Check your pen to confirm the strength matches your prescription.

4. Remove the pen cap and inspect the liquid inside. It should be clear to slightly yellow and free from any particles or cloudiness.

Step 2: Attach the Needle

1. Wipe the red inner seal with an alcohol swab.

2. Remove the paper tab from a new needle.

3. Screw the needle on nice and tight onto the pen.

4. Remove both the outer and inner needle caps. Keep the outer needle cap to safely remove the needle later.

Step 3: Prime Your Pen (Flow Check)

Priming your pen is essential to remove air and ensure it is working correctly. This is also known as a flow check.

1. Turn the dose selector until you feel two clicks and see the extended line in the dose window.

2. Hold the pen vertically with the needle pointing up.

3. Press and hold the dose button until the window shows zero.

4. You will see a drop of liquid at the tip of the needle. This confirms the pen is ready.

Step 4: Choose and Prepare Your Injection Site

1. Choose an injection site. You can inject into:

• Your abdomen (at least 5cm away from your belly button)

• The front of your upper thigh

• The back of your upper arm (if someone is helping you)

2. Rotate your injection sites weekly to avoid skin reactions.

3. Clean your chosen injection area with an alcohol swab and allow it to dry.

Step 5: Set Your Dose and Inject

1. Turn the dose selector until it stops and you see a "1" in the window. This sets your weekly dose.

2. Hold the pen at a 90-degree angle to your skin, making sure you can see the dose window.

3. Press the pen firmly against your skin.

4. Press and hold the dose button until it stops.

5. Keep holding and slowly count to 10.

6. The window should now show zero.

7. Remove the pen from your skin.

Step 6: Safely Remove and Dispose of the Needle

1. On a flat surface, carefully place the outer needle cap back over the needle without touching the needle itself.

2. Push the cap on straight and tight.

3. Unscrew the needle and dispose of it in your sharps bin.

4. Replace the pen cap.
